Out of Town, Lensbaby, Pixie Cut

I am leaving early in the morning for a weekend trip to sunny Phoenix.  All orders and inquiries will be attended to when I arrive back in Salt Lake City.

I have had a few awesome shoots lately, but no time to post.  That's another thing that will have to happen when I get home!  I have to post about my awesome new lens.  It's a Lensbaby and we are going to get along quite well.  I can't believe I waited so long to purchase it.

Oh, and I have been talking forever about cutting my hair really short and I finally got the guts to do it!  It's pixie short and I am loving it.  I look totally different, so don't be alarmed when I come to your shoot and don't look anything like the profile picture on my website!  :)

These girls and their dad were so patient in the cold.  I grabbed my new blanket and some hot cocoa at the last minute, and it's a good thing I did!  The wind was so strong on top of the mountain, and we kept sinking into the snow.  I know at one point I fell in up to my thigh.  I don't think we would've lasted long without some way to warm up.

I love how it went from shivering to this.  It wasn't my intention to do so many shots with the blanket, but it kept them comfortable and warm, and it ended up working beautifully with the white snow.

I'm glad I won't be the one needing to chose between black and white and color for these two images, because they are equally beautiful in both.  It's taken me several minutes just deciding which to post on the blog!

Benton Paul's CD Release concert

Benton Paul had an amazing show in honor of his new album on Thursday, and I was lucky enough to be asked to help by taking some photos before and during the concert.  I was worried at first, because I'm not used to having no control over lighting and placing the subject, but there were a few other photographers, and that helped relieve the stress.  I really had a lot of fun.  The music was great, of course.  He is incredibly talented. I liked lurking around the stage watching the lights and trying to anticipate just the right moment.

Here the images that I liked enough to process first.

I had this vision in my head and it took more than a few shots to get it right.

I took this one just for me.  Loved the light and the abstractness of it.

I had so much fun with my kids today, and I love the pictures they let me take.  Silas with his sneaky grin, and Gid with his crazy flippy hair.  This fall, they'll both be in preschool at least part time.  I'm going to miss hanging out all day, just the three of us.

If you're wondering, I'm not sick anymore (Halleluiah!).  All of my test results looked great, so basically I ust need to watch my blood sugar in the morning and I should be fine.

Oh, and I've done some redecorating in my apartment lately.  It's a teeny tiny little place, and I've always felt like it wasn't my home.  Most of the furnishings we had were given to us by others, and they just didn't make my heart leap.  One of the new things is the quilt in the pictures, which I bought to cover the futon.  Silas tells me it has "snakes", though Urban Outfitters called them rivers.  It makes me happy.  :)

Finally

My website's redesign/update is live.  You can see it at the same place as always, www.wynonarobison.com

There will be a few very minor changes, but I can't keep it offline for any longer.  I will be adding to the last gallery at least.

I know I promised a quick update, and fully intended to keep that promise.  Some people know this, but I was hit by the flu and quickly after by some other unexpected medical issues.  Hopefully the last of which was a fainting episode yesterday morning.  Scary, but the test results we have so far are looking okay.  We'll know more soon.  I've fainted in the past, but it's been a few years.  Most likely it isn't anything serious.

It's been made obvious to me that I have not been taking good care of myself lately, and I promise to change that.  Randomly, each of my February clients has rescheduled to a warmer month, so I have the perfect opportunity to take a few weeks to rest and regenerate.

The new logo was created by my good friend, Nikki.

Delay

A few people know that I've been quite sick with the flu.  This has, of course, delayed work on my website changes.  Please know that I am working as much as I can.

Website Under Construction

My website will be undergoing some changes this weekend, and people visiting the site will be directed here, which of course means I should probably update!  I just have time to post a few images.

I hope to have the site back up Monday morning, and will update here when it's all ready!

A few for friends

I've been burnt out since the holidays and haven't felt like picking up the camera except for a few hours a few days ago where I had this surge of excitement to take some photographs.  I went out to the sled hill and convinced one of my neighbors to let me take a few quick pictures.  Love how bright and cheery she was.

Then I convinced another neighbor to let me borrow her little girl.  So glad I did!  I love how the snow  provides such a beautiful reflector.  Look at that light in her eyes!  She was recovering from a cold, so I probably should have spent the time to remove that redness in one of her eyes, but for the amount of time I have to edit personal stuff, this will have to do for today.
